Angry Moto owners start a petition over locked bootloaders
Unlocked bootloaders are a hot topic in the Android community and Motorola is yet another company to come under heavy fire from fans who really like the freedom to do with their phones as they please.
It’s not the first and it probably won’t be the last company (ASUS announced that it will be unlocking the bootloader on the Transformer Prime). What seems to making users particularly cross with Motorola is that in early 2011 Moto promised to unlock the bootloaders of its smartphones and while it did unlock a few left the majority locked.
A forum thread over at XDA-Developers has started Operaition: Make Ourselves Heard (a.k.a. #OPMOSH), which calls for a onslaught on all possible channels – FCC complaints, emails to Motorola Mobility’s leaders, Twitter and Facebook and an online petition too.
Such organized outcries by the users have had an effect quite often, but then not all succeed.
If you want to join in, you can read the forum thread for details on what #OPMOSH is about and how you help out.
