LG Spectrum goes official joins the Verizon LTE gang on Jan 19

The long rumored LG Spectrum for Verizon just become official at the LG CES event in Las Vegas. We already knew pretty much everything about this monster, but it won’t hurt to go through its sweet-sounding specs once again.

LG press conference images

LG Spectrum is another LTE-capable device to join the growing Verizon LTE family. It packs a 4.5-inch 720p HD IPS display (329ppi) and is based on the Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon chipset featuring a 1.5GHz dual-core Scorpion processor, Adreno 220 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The specs sheet continues with an 8 megapixel snapper with 1080p video recording, a single-LED flash, a 1.3MP front-facing camera and 4GB internal storage accompanied with a 16GB pre-installed microSD card.

The connectivity has pretty much everything – the LTE network support, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct support, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS with A-GPS and MHL microUSB port with TV-out capabilities.

LG Spectrum will feature the ESPN’s ScoreCenter app where it will be get exclusive access to the HD content, while all other phones get the service in SD resolution.

And here are a few live images of the the LG Spectrum. You can clearly see it’s quite similar to theOptimus LTE gadgets and the AT&T-bound Nitro HD.

LG Spectrum will become available on Verizon from January 19 for $200 with a two-year contract (both talk and data plans required).

Fujitsu launches ARROWS ES IS12F smartphone in Japan

Fujitsu has taken a bit of a liking to making ultra-thin smartphones. After the Arrows F-07D was announced back in November as the thinnest smartphone in the world at just 6.6mm thickness, the Japanese manufacturer is back with the new ARROWS ES IS12F Android smartphone.

Unlike the F-07D, the ARROWS ES IS12F is not exactly the thinnest smartphone, losing that title by a mere 0.1mm. It does however manage to be water resistant and has a sturdy Gorilla Glass on the front.

As for the specifications, the ARROWS ES IS12F will run Android 2.3 on a single core 1.4GHz CPU, 800 x 480, 4.0-inch AMOLED display and a 5.11 megapixel camera that can capture ‘Hi-Vision’ videos, which we assume means high definition in plain English.

The phone will be sold in two colors: Ruby Red and Gloss Black and is on sale right now in Japan.

HTC confirms ICS update for 7 smartphones via Facebook

HTC’s Turkish branch went just confirmed through its Facebook page that 7 of the company’s smartphones will receive an Ice Cream Sandwich update this month and then took it down.

The devices in question are the Sensation, Sensation XE, Sensation XL, Amaze 4G, Rezound, EVO Design 4G and Vidid. There’s also a word on the HTC Thunderbolt, which should receive the ICS update by the end of Q1 of 2012.

It’s still uncertain which of the unconfirmed HTC droids will get the ICS treatment, but things are obviously developing quickly so we should know pretty soon.

Fujitsu to unveil ICS smartphone with quad core Tegra 3 at CES

A leaflet that was distributed to journalists at the start of this year’s CES suggests that Fujitsu might have a real beast in store for us. According to it the Japanese will have a new Ultra High-spec Android smartphone with the quad-core Tegra 3 chip inside at their booth.

The smartphone, which runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, is yet to be announced, but we guess that will happen in the following few days.

Fujitsu have also got in store the world’s thinnest water-resistant smartphone at 6.7mm, a Windows Phone water-resistant smartphone, LTE water-resistant tablet and smartphone and more.

We’ll be in eager wait for more information on the matter and will report as soon as something breaks loose. And we’d certainly be keeping an eye on the Fujitsu booth tomorrow.
